Squarespace Alternatives for Local Businesses and Agencies (2026)

The main Squarespace alternatives for a local business are LotsBusiness, Wix, GoDaddy Airo, Hostinger and Durable; agencies also look at Duda and Webflow. LotsBusiness fits when a business needs a website, its Google Business Profile and email at its own name in one price: from $10 a month billed yearly, or $4.30 per client on 25 clients.

Squarespace makes beautiful websites, and for a photographer or a shop that cares most about the look, it is hard to beat. Local service businesses and the agencies that run them usually look elsewhere for a different reason: a website is only one part of being found. They still need the Google profile, email at their own name and the right directory listings, and an agency pays for every client site separately.

I opened Squarespace's pricing page and help center, and every alternative's own pricing or product page, on 22 October 2026. Prices are US dollars before tax, billed yearly unless I say otherwise. Sources are at the end.

What Squarespace does well, and what it costs

Credit where it is due. Squarespace's templates and design tools are why people choose it, and every plan includes hosting, built-in AI tools and selling tools. Checked on 22 October 2026:

  • Basic $19 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly): 2 contributors, a 2% online store transaction fee
  • Core $29 ($39 monthly): unlimited contributors, no store transaction fees
  • Plus $49 ($65 monthly)
  • Advanced $99 ($139 monthly)

There's no free plan; every site starts with a 14-day trial, no card needed. Annual plans include a free custom domain for the first year, which then renews at Squarespace's standard rate.

Email. Core and above include one Google Workspace account free for the first year, if you register or connect a domain. After that it renews at Google's standard rate, and extra users are billed at the standard rate from day one.

A plan for every site. Squarespace's help center is plain about it: each website you create is paid for separately, and it doesn't offer multi-site plans or discounts for multiple sites. For an owner with one business that's fine. For an agency with 5 clients on Basic, it's $95 a month billed yearly before any email, and $145 a month on Core.

For agencies, Squarespace runs Circle, a free partner program with extended trials, discounts on new annual sites and commissions as you build more. White-label and Google Business Profile tools aren't listed on its pricing or Circle pages.

1. LotsBusiness: the website, Google and email in one price per business

I built LotsBusiness to get a local business online and found, not just to put up a website. The paid unit is a business, and each one gets the whole package:

  • A professional website. Start from a ready-made design for the kind of business, and the name, services, hours and photos fill in. Change texts, colours and pages without code, preview, then publish. Hosting and HTTPS are included, every version is kept so you can roll back, and a quality and safety check runs before anything goes live. You can download the site as files at any time.
  • Your own web address. A free yourname.lotssite.com address to start, then connect the domain you already own with one DNS record. LotsBusiness doesn't sell domains, so yours stays where it is.
  • On Google Search and Maps. Create the Google Business Profile step by step and follow Google's own verification, or link the one you have, then post offers, events and updates. Google decides verification and ranking. My Google Maps guide walks through the steps.
  • Email at your own name. info@, bookings@ and a mailbox for everyone on the team at your own domain, unlimited mailboxes once the domain is connected. No per-mailbox bill. Here's how business email at your own domain works.
  • Enquiries in one place. Website messages arrive by email and in the dashboard, spam filtered, with an optional WhatsApp button and tap-to-call bar.
  • Listed where customers look. LotsBusiness shows which directories matter for the business's trade, gives the exact details to enter so they match everywhere, and tracks progress. You or your agency submit them; LotsBusiness doesn't submit listings.
  • Update once. Change your hours or phone number, and the website and your LotsBusiness listing show it straight away.

For agencies. One workspace holds every client and your team, with admin, manager and viewer roles and unlimited team members. A client can get access to their own business only. Send an approval link and the client reviews the draft without an account. When a client wants to own everything, a hand-over moves the business, its website and its domain to their own account and plan. All of this is on every plan, from Starter up. More on the agencies page.

Price. Starter covers 1 business for $120 a year ($10 a month) or $19 monthly. Pro covers 5 for $390 a year ($6.50 per business a month) or $59 monthly. Business covers 25 for $1,290 a year ($4.30 per business a month) or $199 monthly. Extra businesses cost your plan's rate. Every feature is on every paid plan, Pro and Business include LotsNotes Pro, and every business starts with a free directory listing. The full breakdown is in LotsBusiness pricing explained.

Compared with Squarespace. For one business, Squarespace Core is $29 a month billed yearly with one Google Workspace account free for year one; LotsBusiness Starter is $10 a month with unlimited mailboxes and the Google profile steps included. For an agency with 5 clients, Squarespace Basic is $95 a month billed yearly; LotsBusiness Pro is $32.50. Where Squarespace stays ahead: design range and its online store. If the look of the site is what sells your client, keep them there.

2. Wix: a free plan and a big design range

Wix lets you build a site for free on a Wix address. A Premium plan connects your own domain, removes Wix branding and, on most yearly plans, includes a voucher for a new domain free for the first year (first purchase only, not on renewal). It has its own Bookings platform for taking appointments.

  • Email. Once you have a domain, you buy a Google Workspace plan for an address at your domain.
  • For agencies. Wix Studio is its agency platform: co-editing with custom roles and permissions, clients who can update content without touching the design, and customizable client handovers.

I'm not quoting Wix prices; check the plans in your own region. Pick Wix if you want to start free and care most about design choice.

3. GoDaddy Airo: building by describing your business

GoDaddy's Airo builder creates a site from a plain-language description, and you can start free with 50 AI credits a month, no card needed. You can connect your own domain to any published project, sell online with GoDaddy Payments, export your code at any time, and manage orders, reviews and social from one dashboard. GoDaddy offers 24/7 support by phone and chat.

Plan prices weren't shown on its builder page when I checked on 22 October 2026, so check GoDaddy's current plans before you compare. Email at your domain is a separate GoDaddy product. Pick GoDaddy if your domain already lives there and you like phone support.

4. Hostinger: low monthly cost on a long term

Hostinger's builder is paid upfront for the whole term. Its list prices on a 48-month term are $12.19 a month for Premium ($585.12 upfront), $18.99 for Unlimited and $27.99 for Cloud Startup, renewing at $10.99, $16.99 and $25.99 a month. Premium covers up to 3 websites with 2 mailboxes per site, and Unlimited covers unlimited sites and mailboxes; the mailboxes and a custom domain are free for the first year.

Google Business Profile tools aren't listed on its builder page. Pick Hostinger if you're happy to pay several years upfront for a low monthly figure. I compared the two side by side in LotsBusiness vs Hostinger Website Builder.

5. Durable: Google profile, listings and bookings in one plan

Durable is the closest bundle to LotsBusiness for service businesses. Launch is $22 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) and Grow is $41 ($49 monthly). Both include the website, hosting, a free domain (up to $20 on Launch, $40 on Grow), the Google Business Profile, 10+ personalized directory listings, a built-in CRM, online bookings and Google review replies. Grow adds unlimited team members.

  • Strengths. Durable handles the directory listings, which LotsBusiness leaves to you or your agency, and bundles a CRM and bookings.
  • Email. Its help center says Durable doesn't provide email services directly; you connect Google Workspace or another provider to your domain.

No agency plan is listed on its pricing page. Pick Durable for a single owner who wants listings handled and bookings built in. More in LotsBusiness vs Durable.

6. Duda: the agency platform

Duda is built for businesses that sell websites to other businesses. You pay per account and get sites with it: Agency is $52 a month billed yearly ($69 monthly) with 4 sites, and each extra site is $17 a month or $168 a year. Every plan includes a client workspace for unlimited clients with role-based permissions, AI tools can connect from the Agency plan, and White Label ($149 a month billed yearly) puts the whole platform under your brand. There's a 14-day trial.

Business email and Google Business Profile tools aren't listed on its pricing page. Pick Duda if white-label is part of what you sell. My Duda alternatives post goes deeper on agency costs.

7. Webflow: design control for agencies

Webflow is priced per site, like Squarespace: Basic is $15 a month billed yearly (custom domain, no CMS) and Premium $25 (adds the CMS). You can start free on a webflow.io address, and agencies and freelancers can be guests in a client's free Starter Workspace.

Business email and Google Business Profile tools aren't listed on its pricing page. Pick Webflow if your agency designs custom sites and the client pays for that design work.

How to choose

  • The look of the site sells the business: stay on Squarespace, or try Wix or Webflow.
  • You want to start free and build it yourself: Wix or GoDaddy Airo.
  • You'll pay years upfront for the lowest monthly figure: Hostinger.
  • You want listings handled and bookings built in: Durable.
  • White-label is the product your agency sells: Duda.
  • You need a website, the Google profile, email at your own name and directory guidance in one price, for one business or every client: LotsBusiness, from $10 a month billed yearly, or $4.30 per client on 25. My list of website builders for agencies compares the agency side in more detail.

Moving a Squarespace site to LotsBusiness

You rebuild rather than import. Add the business's details (LotsBusiness can read them from your current website, and you confirm each one), pick a design for your trade, and preview. When you're happy, publish, then point your domain at the new site with one DNS record. If your domain is registered at Squarespace, it can stay there; you only change that one record. Cancel the Squarespace plan once the new site is live.

Or ask your AI assistant

Everything above works in the dashboard. LotsBusiness also works with the AI agent you already use: connect ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant once on the connect page and ask in plain words:

Here's our current website, example.com. Set up the business from it, draft a site with the trades design, and show me the preview before anything goes live.

It shows you what it will change, and nothing is published until you approve.

FAQ

What is the best Squarespace alternative for a local business?

It depends on what you need beyond the website. For a website, the Google Business Profile steps and email at your own name in one price, LotsBusiness costs $10 a month billed yearly for one business. For design range, Wix or Webflow. For listings handled and bookings, Durable.

Does Squarespace charge per website?

Yes. Squarespace's help center says each website you create is paid for separately and it doesn't offer multi-site plans or discounts (checked on 22 October 2026). LotsBusiness plans cover 1, 5 or 25 businesses, so an agency pays $6.50 per client a month on 5 and $4.30 on 25, billed yearly.

Does Squarespace include business email?

Core and above include one Google Workspace account free for the first year if you register or connect a domain. After that it renews at Google's standard rate, and extra users are billed at the standard rate. LotsBusiness includes unlimited mailboxes at your own domain with every paid business.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Squarespace for agencies?

For 5 client sites, Squarespace Basic is $95 a month billed yearly. LotsBusiness Pro covers 5 businesses for $390 a year, which is $32.50 a month, with business email and the Google profile steps included for each one.

Can I keep my domain if I leave Squarespace?

Yes. You can connect a domain you own to LotsBusiness wherever it's registered, including at Squarespace, by adding one DNS record. LotsBusiness doesn't sell domains, so the registration stays in your name with your registrar.

Does LotsBusiness submit directory listings for me?

No. It shows which directories matter for your trade, gives you the exact details to enter, and tracks progress. You or your agency submit them. Durable handles directory listings for you on its Launch and Grow plans.
