If you run a local business and want to leave Wix, the real question is what you want in its place: a pretty site, the cheapest first term, or a business that customers actually find on Google, with a live website and email at your own name on one bill. I built LotsBusiness for that last one, and below I compare it with three other Wix alternatives using each one's own current prices.
Checked on 4 Nov 2026. Prices are in USD and change, so confirm them on each page before you buy.
The short answer
| If you want | Look at |
|---|---|
| Website, Google Business Profile setup, business email and enquiries on one bill per business | LotsBusiness |
| Design freedom and polished templates | Squarespace |
| A low first-term price, paid upfront | Hostinger |
| A fast AI-built site with a built-in CRM | Durable |
Why local businesses look past Wix
Local business owners usually want the same four things: to be found on Google, a site that is live and looks professional, an email address at their own name, and one price they understand. A website builder gives you the site. The rest is usually separate: Wix's own FAQ says you add a custom email address by buying a Google Workspace plan once you have your own domain, and getting on Google Maps is a different job again.
Wix is still a strong product. Its plans page lists Free, Light, Core, Business and Business Elite, a drag and drop editor, thousands of templates, online store features on the higher plans, and a 14-day money-back guarantee on paid plans. If you want full control of every pixel, or you are selling products online, Wix is a sensible place to stay. I do not quote Wix prices here because its page shows them by location. Check yours on wix.com/plans.
LotsBusiness: the site, the Google profile and the email on one bill
I'm the founder of LotsBusiness, so this is the one I know best. You pay per business, and every plan has every feature. A paid business gets:
- A professional website from ready-made designs for your kind of business, with hosting and HTTPS included.
- Your own web address: connect a domain you already own, or use a free yourname.lotssite.com address.
- Google Business Profile set up step by step, following Google's own verification, so you can show on Google Maps and Search, then post offers and updates.
- Business email at your own domain with unlimited mailboxes, once the domain is connected.
- Website enquiries in one place, by email and in your dashboard, with spam filtered out.
- A directory listing guide: which directories matter for your trade, the exact details to enter, and progress tracking.
- Update your hours or phone number once and your website and your LotsBusiness listing show it.
Every business also starts with a free listing in the LotsBusiness directory. Google decides verification and rankings, and I don't promise either. What I do is set you up so Google and AI assistants can read your services, hours, area and contact details.
Pricing: Starter covers 1 business at $120 a year ($10 a month billed yearly) or $19 a month. Pro covers 5 businesses at $390 a year ($6.50 per business a month) or $59 a month. Business covers 25 businesses at $1,290 a year ($4.30 per business a month) or $199 a month. Prefer no subscription? Pay as you go is $20 per business a month. Squarespace
Squarespace is the one to look at if design is your first concern. Its pricing page lists Basic at $19 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly), Core at $29 ($39 monthly), Plus at $49 ($65) and Advanced at $99 ($139). Annual plans include one year of free domain registration, and select plans include one Google Workspace account free for the first year. Every site starts with a 14-day trial. More in my Squarespace alternatives post.
Hostinger
Hostinger leads with price. On its website builder page today, Premium is $1.99 a month, paid as $95.52 for 48 months, and it renews at $10.99 a month for the same term. Unlimited is $2.79 a month ($133.92 for 48 months, renews at $16.99) and Cloud Startup is $7.99 a month ($383.52 for 48 months, renews at $25.99). A custom domain is free for the first year, and mailboxes are free for the first year too (2 per website on Premium, unlimited on Unlimited and Cloud Startup). It is a good fit if you are happy to pay upfront for four years. My Hostinger website builder alternatives post goes deeper.
Durable
Durable builds a site with AI and bundles a CRM and bookings. Its pricing page shows a Free plan, Launch at $22 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) and Grow at $41 ($49 monthly). Paid plans include a free custom domain, up to $20 in value on Launch and up to $40 on Grow, and you can connect a domain you own. Business email is not listed on the pricing page.

What to check before you switch from Wix
- Write down your domain and where it is registered. You can keep it where it is and point it at a new site.
- List the pages, photos and text you want to keep, plus your opening hours and phone number.
- Decide whether you need an online store. If you do, stay with Wix or Squarespace, or look at LotsStore.
- Plan your email. An address at your own name needs a domain connected, whichever builder you pick. I cover it in business email at your own domain.
- Get on Google. Here is how to get a business on Google Maps.
For a direct comparison of just the two, read LotsBusiness vs Wix. If email is the deciding factor, see website builders that include business email.
If you do this for clients
If you run websites for local businesses, each client is one business in LotsBusiness. You get one workspace for all clients and your team, approval links a client opens without an account, and hand-over of the business, website and domain to the client's own account. Pro and Business plans bring the price per client down to $6.50 and $4.30 a month.
Your AI assistant can do it for you
If you already use ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant, connect it once and ask in plain words, for example to set up your site or update your hours. It shows you a preview and you approve before anything goes live. Setup is at lots.business/mcp. You never need it: the dashboard does the whole job.
FAQ
What is a good Wix alternative for a local business?
It depends on what you need. If you want customers to find you on Google, a live website and business email on one bill, LotsBusiness is built for that, from $10 a month billed yearly. If you want design freedom, Squarespace is a strong pick. If you want the lowest first-term price, Hostinger is. Durable is the fast AI-built option with a built-in CRM.
Does LotsBusiness include business email?
Yes. Every paid business gets business email at its own domain with unlimited mailboxes, once the domain is connected to its website. Wix's own FAQ says you add a custom email address by buying a Google Workspace plan once you have your own domain.
Do I need my own domain to use LotsBusiness?
Not for the website: every paid business gets a free yourname.lotssite.com address. For business email like you@yourbusiness.com you need a domain, and you connect one you already own from your business's Website tab.
How much does LotsBusiness cost compared with Wix?
LotsBusiness Starter is $120 a year ($10 a month billed yearly) or $19 a month for one business, with the website, hosting, Google Business Profile setup, business email and enquiries included. Wix shows its prices by location, so check your own price on its plans page before you compare.
Do I need ChatGPT or Claude to use LotsBusiness?
No. Everything works in the dashboard. If you already use ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant, you can connect it and ask it to do the work. It shows you a preview and you approve before anything goes live.
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted and your website stays online. Editing, publishing, Google posts and email setup pause until you add a plan again, and your free directory listing always stays.
